The National Vintage Tractor Road Run is held in a different part of the country each year.

Lanarkshire was the venue for the 2006 Run and around 400 tractors assembled at Lanark Agricultural Centre for a 23-mile tour of the Lanarkshire countryside.

The 2006 Run had a very impressive start with international rally driver Jimmy McRae cutting the tape and two pipers leading the first tractor. It was largely due the effort of the late Willie Pringle that the 'National' had come to Lanark and so it was only fitting that his son Joe, driving Willie's Massey-Harris 203, should lead off.

Even more impressive was the lunch venue. New Lanark, a 19th century mill complex, was awarded World Heritage site status in 2001, ranking it alongside the Taj Mahal, The Great Wall of China and Venice as a cultural site of international importance.

Once again the 'National' attracted a huge variety of makes and models.
