King Lear is the renowned story of mistaken love, deceit, betrayal, jealousy and murder.

Lear, the aging King of Britain, has chosen to lay aside the care of Kingship and divide his Kingdom between his three daughters, Goneril, Regan and Cordelia, determined by their expressions of love for him. Cordelia, of a frank and spiritual nature, makes no such declaration and is disinherited. It later becomes evident that her love was the greatest of all, expressed in actions and not mere words.

Having relinquished his throne, Lear becomes the object of ridicule and betrayal by Goneril and Regan, climaxing in the murder of Cordelia and tragic death of Lear unable to contain his grief.
