The Major

Eighty years of Ford tractor history, shown in chronological order, are featured in this new series of DVD programmes. Using original colour and black & white promotional and information films professionally made by the Ford Motor Company over a number of decades, this series brings the story of the Ford tractor back to life!

It's the Fordson Dexta that dominates proceedings in this DVD, although the Major still has a healthy showing. The first film introduces the new Dexta alongside the existing Major and demonstrates all the benefits of this new lightweight tractor.

In Scotland two Dexta's ploughed 204 acres of land non-stop in 96 hours while two films deal with the technical side covering hydraulics and the diesel fuel system. Another follows the Dexta working on a verity of mixed farms, jobs like muck spreading, baling and sugar beet harvesting. The Dexta certainly got the seal of approval from those satisfied farmers.

With machines from 1917 up to the 1990s, this series will feature something for everyone interested in Ford tractors and brings a completely new perspective to the machines that helped revolutionise farming the world over.
