The Ransomes Connection

Eighty years of Ford tractor history, shown in chronological order, are featured in this new series of DVD programmes. Using original colour and black & white promotional and information films professionally made by the Ford Motor Company over a number of decades, this series brings the story of the Ford tractor back to life!

For many years, the Ford Tractor Company had a close working relationship with a very important farm equipment manufacturer from Suffolk, Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies Ltd. The Ford Film Unit co-operated with Ransomes to produce several films. 'Good Ploughing' is the subject of the first two featuring the trusty Fordson Diesel Major and Ransomes plough. A wonderful film dedicated to the Ransomes 902 Combine Harvester follows, then a peek into the future with the Fordson Dexta in 'Major gets a Workmate'. Lastly we see a very unusual Diesel Major, this time fitted with an experimental hydrostatic transmission.

With machines from 1917 up to the 1990s, this series will feature something for everyone interested in Ford tractors and brings a completely new perspective to the machines that helped revolutionise farming the world over.
