THE
CHILTERN HILLS
Land of Flint
and Beech

Becks Price: £14.99
£-14.99 ()

This DVD expolres the Chilterns from Dunstable Downs across to the Thames Valley using the ancient Icknield Way as a guide and making detours down into the river valleys.

This area of outstanding natural beauty is famous for it's sweeping landscapes, picturesque flint cottages and beech woodland, carpeted with bluebells in spring and ablaze with colour in autumn.

It has a fascinating history and still preserves unusual traditions such as the extraordinary "weighing in of The Mayor" ceremony in High Wycombe.

At Chalfont St. Giles, Milton comes to life again in his "pretty box" and the Quaker village of Jordans with it's Mayflower Barn, (probably constructed from timbers belonging to that ship), finds the resting place of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania.

Traditional crafts, such as lace and chair-making are still kept alive today and the whole area is one of enormous interest and beauty.
